Israel Keeps Winterization Supplies Out of Gaza as 11th Baby Freezes to Death

On Jan. 27, another newborn, Haitham Abu Qass, froze to death in Gaza—the 11th this winter. Unless Washington is prepared to seriously ride herd on Israel’s Netanyahu administration, the overwhelming evidence is that that gang means to impose such nasty conditions that yet another incident can be used by them to break any and all agreements. However, it is not to be discounted that at least some of them simply enjoy the pain that they inflict—that is, are actual sadists.

The UN’s daily Gaza update reports that hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in Gaza remain in unsafe, makeshift shelters or damaged buildings, exposed to severe weather, environmental hazards, and unexploded ordnance. Aid groups continue to warn that most materials needed to mitigate weather-based dangers are not being allowed in, rendering any present efforts to remedy the effects of winter storms inadequate.

Since the first full day of the so-called ceasefire, October 11, 2025, at least 1,838 Gazans have been identified as casualties, of whom 488 were killed. This is about 17 casualties/day, of whom 4-5 are killed per day. Another 714 corpses have been recovered from underneath the rubble. With these 1,202 identified deaths, the official overall death toll since Oct. 7, 2023 is 71,662.
