Putin Says Greenland Is a Problem for the U.S. and Denmark, Not Russia

Russian President Putin recalled the history of Denmark, Greenland, the U.S., and the U.S. purchase of Alaska from Russia.

He pointed out that the United States had purchased what are now the U.S. Virgin Islands from Denmark in 1917, in an agreement that included U.S. acknowledgment of Denmark’s control over Greenland.
