In an interview this week with TA-3 television, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that, “The EU is facing an unprecedented crisis” and “We must replace Ms. Kallas” as EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, reportedTASS on Jan. 11. Fico said Kallas is hindering the EU from effectively handling the challenges and adopting a coherent stance on contemporary issues. Fico said that the post-World War II order has been fundamentally altered since the U.S. military intervention in Venezuela.
“It’s perplexing that two of the Soviet Union’s former staunch allies during World War II—Great Britain and France—are pursuing such provocative policies,” Fico stated. “This is a provocation. Russian officials have warned that any foreign soldier on Ukrainian territory will be considered a legitimate target. I ask: Is this about peace or war? Are we willing to start a conflict at any cost? What are we truly discussing?”
He said the strategy of weakening Russia through the military conflict in Ukraine is ineffective and is an unsustainable solution.
