So what is the British role in the escalating buildup for war on Iran?

Middle East Eye, in a report entitled “How Britain could be embroiled in US attack on Iran,” reports the following:

“If Washington asks the Starmer government for permission to use the base [Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean] for an attack [on Iran], Starmer would be expected to seek advice from Jonathan Powell, his national security adviser, who was Tony Blair’s chief of staff when Britain invaded Iraq in 2003.”

Not mentioned but probably well known to MEE’s editors is that Powell is one of the leading operatives of “liberal interventionism” as espoused by Blair in a speech in Chicago in 1999 and expressed in the WMDs hoax in Iraq in 2003 and in Syria later. Powell’s dirty role in bringing a terrorist regime to power in Syria was thoroughly documented by independent journalist Vanessa Bealey.

So, will Britain be “embroiled” in a US war on Iran or, as in the case of the Iraq war, will it be the one pulling the strings?
