US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, Jan. 22, as confirmed by Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

“The Russians have invited us to come, and that’s a significant statement from them,” Witkoff told Bloomberg TV on the sidelines of the Davos Forum. “And Kirill [Dmitriev] was here yesterday and working on this with us. So I think everybody is embedded in the process and wants to see a peace deal happen.”

Witkoff and Jared Kushner had a meeting in Davos on Jan. 20 with Russian Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev, which Witkoff characterized as “very positive.” The two Americans also met with the Ukrainian delegation on Jan. 21. Head of the Ukrainian negotiating team Rustem Umerov reported on Telegram that “the main topics were economic development, post-war recovery, and security guarantees.”
