China Wants an 'Inclusive International Trade Environment,' Not U.S. Critical Minerals Boondoggle

At China’s Foreign Ministry press briefing today,

Spokesman Lin Jian replied to a question about the critical minerals trade alliance that had been proposed the previous day at the U.S.’s Critical Minerals Ministerial in Washington. Clearly, Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s attempt to shove China out of the critical mineral supply chains isn’t going to fly (see separate article).

Lin was quite clear: “An open, inclusive international trade environment beneficial to all serves the common interests of all countries. All parties have the responsibility to play a constructive role in keeping the global industrial and supply chains on critical minerals stable and secure. China opposes any country setting up exclusive blocs to disrupt international economic and trade order.”
