Prior to Epstein Revelations, the Corruption of Western Leaders Was Already Exposed

The level of decadence and corruption amongst Western leaders suggested by the latest release of the Epstein files has not gone unnoticed in Russia, as it addresses the felt reality that the betrayals of Russia by the West are part of an underlying sickness. However, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, when asked yesterday about a possible link between what’s been learned about the inner life of Western politicians caught up in the Epstein affair and the kind of thinking that ran the 2014 coup in Ukraine and the (2015-22) lying to Russia about a peace settlement, chose to move to a larger issue. In yesterday’s interview with RT’s Rick Sanchez, he highlighted that nobody needed the Epstein files to recognize the shocking reality, as a clear-headed look at the treatment of post-Soviet Russia was sufficient. He answered:

“I think that generalisations of this kind can hardly be applied to concrete individuals or persons. I do not believe in what is known as the deep state, all these foundations acting behind the scenes or private groups that are allegedly ruling the world’s destinies. After all, people elected as presidents or prime ministers have what it takes to assert their own policy. But they steer a line that consists in deceit and implies immunity to feeling ashamed or blushing for lying to a partner. This is a fact and there are many people of this sort. Currently, they have come into full view all over Europe…” Lavrov added that they have not learned from their behavior.

RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan posted part of Lavrov’s answer with her comment: “Sergey Lavrov tells us that European officials don’t need to have Epstein links to be bad actors—most do their work out in the open.”

That is to say, as U.S. intelligence expert Edgar Poe would enjoy emphasizing, the truth has been hidden in plain sight.
