Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a 1 hour 25 minute videoconference call on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The presidents’ opening remarks were warm and placed great emphasis on the growing friendship and strengthening of relations between the two nations on many fronts—cultural, economic, and strategic.
Putin emphasized the importance of the Russia-China partnership for stability in the context of the currently turbulent global strategic situation. “We are ready to continue the closest coordination on global and regional issues, both bilaterally and in all multilateral forums: in the UN, BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and others, where the Russian-Chinese tandem plays a key role.”
