Russian Lawmaker Asks, What Did Germany Know About the Plot To Arm Ukraine with Nukes?

The Russian Federation Council will request a German parliamentary probe into the Germany’s potential role in a scheme to provide Ukraine with a nuclear weapon, reported Russian Sen. Konstantin Kosachev, the Federation Council Deputy Speaker. On Feb. 24, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) announced that it believes the U.K. and France seek to arm Ukraine with “minimally a dirty bomb,” with the aim of making it appear as if Ukraine developed the weapon[s] itself. According to the SVR report, “Berlin has prudently refused” to participate; however, Kosachev noted: “that means that Berlin has been contacted previously, and no doubt, a potential role for Germany in this scheme … should necessarily be investigated in a probe similar to a parliamentary probe that we expect from our colleagues in Great Britain and France. Therefore, we will put forward a similar proposal to our colleagues at German parliament to ask the German government and the country’s senior leadership questions regarding this. To clarify Germany’s role in this absolutely crazy and dangerous scheme,” the lawmaker told TASS.
