Suicide Bomber Kills 31 at Mosque in Pakistan's Capital, Islamabad

In the deadliest attack since January 2023, a suicide bomber killed 31 people and injured another 169 during the height of Friday prayers on Feb. 6 at a mosque in Islamabad, according to press accounts. Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari called it “a crime against humanity.” Russian President Vladimir Putin immediately sent his condolences, and denounced that “the killing of people during a religious ceremony is another proof of the barbaric, inhumane nature of terrorism,” TASS reported. He offered to expand anti-terror cooperation between the two countries.
