Some in the City of London and Wall Street speculative financial centers, as well as the Trump administration, claim that there is a “nuclear power revival” in the United States.
Closer examination reveals that the planned new nuclear power is not going to power the Bering Strait rail project that will connect by electrified high-speed rail or maglev the United States and Russia, as part of international growth corridors; or to enable the pioneering North American Power and Water Alliance (NAWAPA) for revolutionary water distribution on the North American continent.
Rather, this nuclear power is being dedicated to powering data centers or Crypto Mining which are overwhelmingly (though not entirely) wasteful overhead and therefore a deduction from the real physical economy.
Consider a few of the pairings:
Beaver Valley, Perry, and Davis-Besse (Ohio/Pennsylvania): Meta (Facebook) has contracted for 2,600 megawatts of electricity from these Vistra-owned plants to power data centers. Some work-output at the Data Center, which powers advanced technologies, can be useful (though not productive); but the majority is useless.
