On Thursday, Feb. 12, the Justice Department filed a motion to drop criminal charges against two Venezuelan men, stemming from an incident which occurred in January in Minneapolis, MN, reported several news agencies. One of the defendants was shot in the leg by an ICE officer.
One of the men, Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna, had been driving on his shift with DoorDash when he noticed an ICE vehicle following him, reported CNN. He drove home, was tackled by an agent, but broke free and ran over to the home of his cousin, Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, who was already standing outside. After Aljorna entered, Sosa-Cellis rushed to lock and bolt the door, getting shot in the leg by the ICE agent.
“The Justice Department’s motion cited ‘newly discovered evidence’ that was ‘materially inconsistent’ with the allegations against them, noted CBS News.
