The U.S. and Iran negotiations are slated for a showdown on Feb. 26-27 in Geneva. The USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group arrives off the coast of Israel shortly and U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are scheduled to arrive for talks on Feb. 26. The latter is said to be contingent upon Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi first producing a written compromise proposal. He stated, according to Axios, that Iran is finalizing its proposal and will submit it after approval by Tehran’s political leadership.

Citing “a senior Iranian official,” Reuters writes, in their words, that Iran “is seriously considering a proposal under which half of its most highly enriched uranium [60% level] would be sent abroad, while the remainder would be diluted. Iran is also willing to participate in a regional uranium-enrichment consortium, an idea repeatedly raised during past diplomatic discussions. However, the official said such steps would be conditional on U.S. recognition of Iran’s right to ‘peaceful uranium enrichment’ within a broader agreement that would also include lifting economic sanctions.” For medical purposes, this would be around 20% enrichment. A timeline for sanction relief would need to be agreed upon.
