The Lead

Second Month of U.S.-Israel War on Iran Begins, Amidst World Clash of Rule-by-Force against Rule-by-Reason

by Marcia Merry Baker (EIRNS) — Mar. 28, 2026

As of today, the start of the second month of the U.S.-Israel attack on Iran, the escalation conspicuously features attempted links between the Ukraine proxy war by the West against Russia, into the warrooms of selected Gulf states. This is deadly, if expected, as long as rule-by-force persists internationally, instead of rule-by-reason and diplomacy.

In the last three days, Acting President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a pop-up tour to Saudi Arabia, U.A.E. and Qatar, seeking agreements to collaborate in drone/anti-drone expertise, in technology, manufacturing, deployment. In addition, Zelenskyy appears in a video addressed to the recent summit of the U.K.-led Northern Europe Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) nations (the 10 spanning the U.K. to the Baltic states) making the same glorious offer to “collaborate.”

Behind the comedian-turned-president stands the U.K. and the Palantir positioning in Ukraine, and fanning out in Eurasia, to promote continued warfare, with the specialty in drones. In fact, the March 24 London weekly The Economist reports that, “Autonomous swarms are the future of drone warfare. Much of the innovation is being carried out in Ukraine,” which means the U.K., Palantir and Silicon Valley. The Epstein Class at work. The Ukraine activity is boosted by cooperation with the Pentagon’s “Swarm Forge” program, whose private contractors specialize in AI capability for drones.

True, Zelenskyy lies and exaggerates on cue about Ukraine and weaponry, but even so, the intent of his Gulf tour is clear. Zelenskyy posted this on his “surprise” visit to Jeddah on March 26, where he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, “We have reached an important Arrangement between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on defense cooperation,” showing their photo, saying, “It lays the foundation for future contracts….”

As it happens, contracts and deals were on the agenda of the Saudi Arabia-sponsored annual summit in Miami, Florida over March 25-27, of the Future Investment Initiative Institute (FFI Institute) founded in 2017, in the name of promoting world economic (money) growth. Deal-makers on hand included Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, bankers and players in the Epstein echelon. Last night President Donald Trump, who began by praising a gathering of “so many rich men,” let loose on his view of the Middle East. Letting slip a reference to the “Strait of Trump,” meaning the Strait of Hormuz, he told the crowd that the Saudi Crown Prince never thought, “he would be kissing my ass … but now he has to be nice to me.” Trump threatened, “You tell him he better be nice to me. He’s got to be.” And that means, no more waiting. The “time is now” to join the Abraham Accords.

There is no other alternative to this depraved worldview of money and murder, based on rule-by-force, than the recourse of rule-by-reason. That means, no warmed-over Kissingerian “balance of power,” or geopolitical contracts will function. What can work today, in this era of nuclear weapons, is engaging in mutual work toward a new world economic and security system serving nations and peoples, not depravity.

Further dialogue on this will take place on the third EIR Emergency Roundtable this year, currently planned for April 6. (Details forthcoming.)

Impetus for bringing this positive outlook forward was seen today by masses of individuals taking to the streets, many for the first time, in the thousands of mass rallies and marches held around the world under the rubric of the “No Kings” effort, which had been set up in 2025 by sponsors wanting to thwart any effort protesting Trump, from actually calling for solutions and new systems. But today, reality broke through. People had signs and banners to “Stop the War,” and “Build the Economy Not Bombs,” instead of exclusively the usual No-Kings dead-head, generic signs of “Kings Fall, Democracy Rises,” “People Up, Kings Down,” etc.

The next International Peace Coalition weekly online meeting is Friday, April 3.
