Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi used the occasion of his address to the opening of the 2026 Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition in Cairo on Monday, to issue a personal appeal to U.S. President Donald Trump to intervene to stop the ongoing war with Iran.

“I am telling President Trump,” President El-Sisi first reported, “that no one will be able to stop the war in our region, in the Gulf, except you. In the name of humanity, and in the name of everyone who loves peace—and you, Mr. President, are someone who loves peace— I am directing this message to you personally, on my behalf, on behalf of the entire region, and on behalf of the whole world. Given the severe consequences of the war continuing any longer, please help stop the war. You are capable of doing so.”

His appeal was frontpage news in the Egyptian press and covered throughout the Southwest Asian region. It was reported in the press of India, China and various African nations, among others. Maybe, if you dig hard enough, you might find a small note on it buried in some U.S. newspaper.

The brief clip of that appeal, extracted from his longer remarks, is available with English subtitles in the region’s press, such as this one by Al Jazeera. Will someone in the White House do humanity the favor of showing the less-than-a-minute clip to the President for his morning briefing instead of the two-plus-minute video of clips of bombs exploding on Iran that it is said he is fed every morning as “a briefing"?
