According to the Washington Post and other mainstream media, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, during the breaks in the ministers’ meeting in Brussels, had telephone conversations with Russian Foreign Minister Serej Lavrov. The German government spoke of “very, very serious allegations”; the Hungarian opposition “high treason.” Szijjarto called the allegations “pointless conspiracy theory and fake news.” The Hungarian Justice Ministry characterized the claims as “a serious attack on Hungary.”
