Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on March 15 that while “there is no specific initiative to end the war” at this moment, Iran would “welcome any regional initiative leading to a just end.” He added that any end to the conflict would hinge on guarantees that attacks will not be repeated and compensation for damages incurred, reports The Times Kuwait. President Masoud Pezeshkian echoed the position on March 13, saying Iran would consider proposals from Islamic countries aimed at restoring regional stability.
The comments come as Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty departed March 15 for a Persian Gulf tour aimed at coordinating positions on the conflict, the first such visit by a senior Egyptian official since the war began.
Araghchi said that diplomacy remains in place with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and neighboring countries.
