Hezbollah had stalled attacks on Israel until Sunday, when they responded to the killing of Khamenei by shelling sites in Israel. Israel has now revived ground forces’ incursions in the south of Lebanon and bombed what it called Hezbollah command centers and weapons storage units in Beirut suburbs. The Lebanese government says 52 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes since Saturday.
Israel and Lebanon signed a ceasefire in November 2024, but Israel has continued almost daily strikes since then.
