Late in the day on March 27, Israel struck three major Iranian steel factories, those at Mobarakeh, Esfahan, and Khuzestan. Drop Site News reported that iron and steel is Iran’s second-largest export category behind oil, at $6.48 billion, and these three plants together produce roughly 70% of the country’s steel.

In addition, state media confirmed that Israel made strikes on the Shahid Khondab Heavy Water Complex in Arak and the Ardakan yellowcake plant in Yazd. The IDF confirmed the strikes as well. A power plant was also reportedly struck.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi responded strongly to the attacks: “Israel has hit two of Iran’s largest steel factories, a power plant and civilian nuclear sites among other infrastructure. Israel claims it acted in coordination with the U.S. Attack contradicts POTUS extended deadline for diplomacy. Iran will exact HEAVY price for Israeli crimes.”
