Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi declared Thursday that Muscat will not provide any support for the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, describing the conflict as illegal under international law and stating that the decision to launch the war is not, fundamentally, the Iran nuclear issue. He said that Iran had already reached “very advanced limits,” including an Iranian pledge not to accumulate weapons-grade nuclear material and to downgrade its current stock of highly enriched uranium. “The United States would not have obtained, through the war, greater concessions than those achieved through negotiation,” he said, as characterized by the semi-official Oman Daily.

The true goals of the war? Weakening Iran, reshaping the region, advancing normalization with Israel, and undermining the prospect of a Palestinian state, he said.

Oman will not join the U.S.-backed Peace Council, the minister said flatly.
