South Asia's Crippling Oil Shortage

Sri Lanka has imposed a four-day work week and has asked civil servants to work from home when possible. Bangladesh declared early Ramadan holidays for universities and has scheduled power blackouts. Pakistan has implemented online classes for schools and has raised gas prices to prevent hoarding. And in India, everything from restaurants to hotels have closed, and a major steel mill may be forced to close soon. Countries report that oil stockpiles are being used, but still there are long lines at gas stations. Oil which transits the Strait of Hormuz is the largest source of energy for South Asia.
