Strategic Iran Friendships Affirmed in Nowruz Greetings; but Trump Affirms U.S. 'Righteous Mission in the Middle East'

In this year’s messages of greetings to Iran for the ancient Persian holiday of Nowruz, many countries affirmed friendship and spoke of concerns. The White House, however, posted a Nowruz message “to Americans,” backing more warfare.

The Kremlin posted today that, “Vladimir Putin wished the Iranian people strength on overcoming these severe trials and emphasized that during this difficult time, Moscow remained a loyal friend and reliable partner of Tehran.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X today, that he “Spoke with President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and conveyed Eid and Nowruz greetings. We expressed hope that this festive season brings peace, stability and prosperity to West Asia.” He said he conveyed concerns for safe shipping, and the safety of Indian nationals.

The White House, however, yesterday [posted a message]( https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/2026/03/presidential-message-on-nowruz/) from President Donald Trump, which, in effect using the holiday to justify making war on Iran and in the region. Addressed to “Every American celebrating Nowruz,” it states: “As we continue our righteous mission in the Middle East, I pray that this Nowruz will promote the causes of peace and human dignity on American shores and all across the world….”
