Iran responded to the Israeli targeted killings of Ali Larijani and Maj. Gen. Gholam Reza Soleimani, the commander of the Basij militia, with what appears to be the most intense missile barrage of the war so far. The Iranian military forces launched missiles at more than 100 Israeli targets in the occupied territories in the latest wave of retaliatory strikes during the Operation True Promise 4, Tasnim reported, citing Iranian military statements. The Iranian Armed Forces launched a barrage of Khorramshahr-4, Qadr, Emad and Khaybar-shekan missiles at Tel Aviv in revenge for the martyrdom of Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and his companions (his son and others were killed alongside him -ed.). The Khorramshahr-4 and Qadr missiles, equipped with multiple warheads, penetrated into the Zionist regime’s multi-layered and advanced air defense system and successfully hit over 100 military and security targets in the heart of the occupied territories during the intense and lightning operation, the Iranian military claimed.
The Iranian Army also claimed that its missiles have forced the US navy’s aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to retreat from the region. Chinese satellite data published on March 15 showed the Lincoln off the coast of Salalah, Oman, roughly 1,100 south of the Hormuz strait, so this Iranian claim is plausible.
According to another report in Tasnim, the spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said Iran has begun a new stage of “effective and harsh” blows against the US and Israeli targets across the region at a rapid pace of retaliatory strikes. The spokesman noted that the “origins of American aggression” against Iran have been also struck by missiles and drones across the region, pointing to successful missile attacks on several US military bases in the neighboring countries.
