Pete Hegseth Gives Triumphalist Pentagon Briefing

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine beside him, held forth in the Pentagon press briefing room for the fourth time on March 13 since the U.S. and Israel began their illegal war of aggression against Iran on Feb. 28. While Hegseth blasts the “fake news” coming out of the corporate news media every chance he gets, this time he explicitly endorsed Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison’s planned takeover of CNN. (David Ellision is son of Larry Ellison, star of the Epstein world.) “CNN ‘reports that the Trump administration underestimated the Iran war’s impact on the Strait of Hormuz’—patently ridiculous, of course. For decades, Iran has threatened shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,” said Hegseth. “This is always what they do, hold the Strait hostage. CNN doesn’t think we thought of that. It’s a fundamentally unserious report. The sooner David Ellison takes over that network, the better.”

The impression that Hegseth tried to create is that the U.S. and Israel have already defeated Iran but the news media don’t want Americans to know it. “We’re on plan to defeat, destroy, disable all of their meaningful military capabilities at a pace the world has never seen before,” he said. “But it’s not just that Iran doesn’t have a functioning Air Force or that their entire Navy is at the bottom of the Persian Gulf, or their missile force is shrinking daily. Even more importantly, they also don’t have the ability to build more.”
