Writing on Truth Social Sunday morning, March 8, U.S. President Donald Trump gave an indication that Republican chances in the upcoming midterm elections for Congress are slipping away in regime-change wars and stagflation and will have to be “fixed” by vote suppression. Trump threatened that he would “refuse to sign” any other legislation until the SAVE Act is passed through the Senate. He also spelled out what had to be in it:
“I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed, AND NOT THE WATERED DOWN VERSION—GO FOR THE GOLD: MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. & PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP: NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS EXCEPT FOR MILITARY—ILLNESS, DISABILITY….”
Under those rules, should Congress cower and pass them, large numbers of voters would not go to the polls, having to go through bureaucratic procedures to recover a birth certificate or obtain a passport. Lower voter participation usually favors the party temporarily in power in Congress.
