Trump Tells CBS: Iran Strikes a 'Great Day' for U.S. and the World

Speaking to CBS over the phone on Feb. 28 after the commencement of the U.S.’ war against Iran, U.S. President Trump was arrogant and confident in his actions. The prospect of a diplomatic solution is “much easier now than it was a day ago, obviously,” he said, “Because they are getting beat up badly.” He called the strikes “a great day for this country, a great day for the world.”

When asked about any prospects to replace Supreme Leader Khamenei, Trump said “Yes… there are some good candidates.”

On the Iranian counter response, Trump said “It’s what we expected. We thought it’d be double,” though he added that the situation remains fluid. “Thus far, it’s been less than we thought.”

Asked if he plans to work with Congress on this conflict moving forward, Trump said, “I always want to work with Congress. Always. I’ve always worked with Congress.”
