U.S.-Israeli Make Strike Near Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant

There was a strike by the U.S.-Israeli forces took place near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant. No one was hurt, nor was there any serious damage. Other than the obvious danger of hurting the reactor or fuel storage, there are no fewer than 480 Russian employees of Russia’s Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation working at the site, according to the corporation’s Director General Alexey Likhachev.

Rosatom’s Alexey Likhachev specified that the strike had hit the area near the office of the facility’s meteorological service, in close proximity to an operating power unit. Likhachev pointed out that it was the first recorded strike on the nuclear power plant since the start of the conflict, and stressed that the radiation situation in the area remained normal. Attacks on nuclear facilities blatantly violate the key rules and principles of international security, Likhachev stressed.

International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi called for “maximum restraint” during the conflict in order.

Russia’s Ambassador to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov responded firmly to the IAEA: “I am not sure that the Agency’s response is commensurate with the gravity of the situation. The missile exploded just 200 meters from an operational nuclear reactor. The possibility of another strike can not be ruled out. This poses a real risk of a major nuclear disaster, which can dramatically affect the whole region.”
