Over the past year, China’s approval rating has solidly surpassed that of the U.S. according to a new poll released by Gallup. China’s leadership is now seen with approval by 36% of those polled, while the U.S.’ leadership is only at 31%. This was up from 2024, where China had a 32% approval and the U.S. had 39%.
Gallup’s numbers are likely skewed, but the point is clear nonetheless. They report that the largest drops in support for the U.S. came from former allies, like Germany, Portugal, Italy, the UK, and Canada, but also saw decreases in Japan, Pakistan, most of Africa, almost all of Europe, and the entirety of Central and South America.
