International Grains Council Projects Drop in World Grains Production In 2026-2027

World total grains production (wheat and coarse grains, such as corn and others) for the current crop year of 2026-2027 will drop 53 million metric tons below its prior annual output level, according to the https://www.igc.int/en/gmr_summary.aspx">March monthly estimate put out by the International Grains Council. The IGC, based in London, was formed in 1949 as an international organization.

The March 19 monthly IGC Grain Market Report projects that “total grains” will drop from 2.470 billion metric tons (2025/2026) down to 2.417 billion, global wheat output will decline 2.7% from the 845 million metric tons the previous year. Corn output is projected to be 1.303 billion tons, which is down from 1.32 billion the prior year.
