Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which they discussed the latest events and possible means to defuse tensions, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said on April 9, reported Al Arabiya. “During the call, they reviewed the latest developments and discussed ways to reduce tensions to restore security and stability in the region,” the statement read.
This was reportedly the first official contact between the two governments since the first retaliatory strikes by Iran at targets on Saudi soil in early March.
