Kujat Warns Against a Return to the Period Before the Treaty of Westphalia

In an interview with Swiss Weltwoche TV on April 23, retired German General Harald Kujat denounced the U.S. view that attacks on civilian targets are OK, saying that international law forbids military acts against civilians. Such trampling of international law, shown in the U.S. air raids in Iran, cannot be accepted. The ban of intervention into a sovereign state from outside, goes back to the 1648 Peace Treaty Westphalia, which put an end to the Thirty Years’ War. Kujat warns against a return to the historical period before 1648, which would be a march into a new dark age.
