The United States has approved the sale of approximately ten billion euros worth of military equipment to Germany. The U.S. Department of State announced that it had approved a request from the German government. “The planned sale supports U.S. foreign and security policy objectives by strengthening the security of a NATO partner,” the statement said.
Specifically, according to the statement, Germany intends to acquire, among other things, eight integrated combat management systems, modern radar systems, and launch systems for guided missiles—technology that enables warships to detect and counter threats early and to network with other NATO units. According to the statement, the goal is to strengthen the German Navy’s capabilities for national and alliance defense and to improve cooperation with U.S. and NATO forces.
