Palantir founder Peter Thiel arrived in Buenos Aires as far back as two weeks ago in a visit shrouded in secrecy, but about which President Javier Milei is ecstatic. He arrived in the country with his two advisers, his husband Matt Danzeisen and Matias Van Thienen and his two children. Thiel and Milei met twice previously in 2024, and Thiel has lavished praise on Milei’s fascist Libertarian economic model which he has said is not only doing wonders for Argentina but should be applied globally.
The two held a secretive meeting at the Casa Rosada presidential palace on April 23, attended only by Milei, Thiel and his two advisers, one State Department expert on defense matters, and Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno. In an unprecedented move, on the day of the scheduled meeting, Milei banished the entire accredited press corps from the presidential palace, claiming that one reporter had engaged in “illegal espionage.” It was obvious he wanted no media coverage of the meeting or reporters speaking with Thiel. No details have been disclosed about what agreements might have been discussed or signed at that meeting.
