Putin Sends His Greetings to Russian Space Forum

On April 9, the 65th anniversary of the historic flight of Yuri Gagarin, the Russian Space Forum was held in Moscow, a centerpiece of the recently proclaimed Russian Space Week. There were several thousand participants, including representatives from 40 different countries. President Putin sent his greetings to the forum. “Today, the development of the rocket and space complex, strengthening its scientific, human, and technological potential, are among our absolute priorities,” Putin said. “I would like to emphasize that in order to move forward and maintain a leading position in the field of space exploration, it is extremely important to combine the efforts of the state, business, and research teams in this strategic area, and jointly solve large-scale, time-consuming tasks to improve the industry’s production base and ground infrastructure.”

In order to underline that point. Rosatom and the Russian Academy signed a new agreement of close cooperation in order to more quickly advance Russia’s space program. First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov outlined the industry’s key development goals for the forum participants at the opening plenary session. He stated that Russia is focusing on reducing launch costs and developing reusable technologies: the technical specifications for the Amur-SPG medium-class rocket and the prototype reusable first stage have already been approved.

“The launch and landing of the experimental prototype are scheduled for 2028. This is a very important step,” Mr. Manturov noted. He also noted that the Russian Orbital Station project is now in its active phase, with the deployment of its first module also scheduled for 2028.
