Slovenian MP Calls for Referendum on Leaving NATO

President of the Slovenian Parliament Zoran Stevanovic announced his commitment to organizing a referendum to leave NATO.

“I must say that we promised the people a referendum on the question of withdrawing from NATO, and we will hold that referendum,” he said. Slovenia joined NATO in 2004 after a referendum. “I want to build bridges and work closely with all countries, regardless of the wall that was built between East and West,” he said. As part of that outreach, Stevanovic is planning trips to Skopje, Copenhagen, and Moscow.
