President Donald Trump’s last-minute announcement last night that he was extending the ceasefire with Iran, has left a very unstable situation. There’s no agreement between the U.S. and Iran on the terms of the extended ceasefire. There’s no sign of negotiating teams in Islamabad, in short, because the Iranians refuse to reply to Trump’s demands. Trump’s blockade remains in place. The Iranian closure of the Strait of Hormuz remains in place. US Central Command forces “remain ready...” while the IRGC “is fully prepared to deliver new achievements and ‘surprises’ beyond the enemy’s understanding", should the US and/or Israel resume their aggression.
According to Tasnim, Iran did not request the ceasefire extension. It assesses that the extension could have several meanings:
1) “The first meaning is that Trump has lost the war. He had tested and implemented all possible scenarios during the war.”
2) “ Although the war had no achievement for the US, Trump may do everything, including deception through every possible means, among them the extension of the ceasefire. Trump may claim to extend the ceasefire, but then the same terrorist administration of the US or its regional rabid dog (Israel), may carry out terrorist moves.”
3) “Another possibility is that the US will withdraw from the war and Israel will remain in this war under the pretext of violation of the ceasefire in Lebanon!”
