According to an exclusive Reuters report posted April 28, U.S. intelligence agencies are studying how Iran would respond if U.S. President Donald Trump were to declare a unilateral victory in the two-month-old war that has killed thousands and become a political liability for the White House.
EIR has no independent intelligence confirming the Reuters account, but views it as likely that this option is under consideration. The Washington Post on April 29 reported separately that the USS Gerald R. Ford, one of three U.S. aircraft carriers currently deployed to the Iran war theater, would be departing back to the United States shortly.
