BRICS Foreign Ministers Meet in New Delhi

At the same time that the Trump-Xi summit is held in Beijing, the foreign ministers of the BRICS nations will meet in New Delhi May 14-15, and will set the agenda for the heads of state summit in Sept., chaired by India this year. RT reports that the meeting “is expected to focus on key geopolitical issues, including the conflict in the Middle East.”

That will not be an easy discussion. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will be there, as will a representative for the UAE—which has sided with the U.S. and Israel in the war on Iran. Hos India also has a diplomatic soft spot for Israel, and wants to tone down any language on Gaza. They have also called for peace in the Iran war, but have refused to “take sides.” China’s foreign minister will not attend, as he will be tied up with the Trump visit to China.
