The blustering and belligerent German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is also now making some comments about Europe’s willingness to engage in negotiations with the U.S. and Russia to end the war in Ukraine. While he first calls for a ceasefire and is no doubt angling for a seat at whatever table is set for US -Russia negotiations, Merz’ statements are a further confirmation that even the most recalcitrant leaders in Europe are reading the tea leaves. This also comes at the same time as a Pentagon report indicating that Russia has the clear upper hand in the Ukraine conflict. At a meeting with new Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, stated that European countries intend to increase pressure on Russia to push it to begin negotiations on the situation in Ukraine. Whether these signs will be enough for the berserker Zelensky to be brought under control—or perhaps even removed from the presidency—remains to be seen
