Iranian President Thanks Pope for Stance Against War

On May 15, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sent an official letter to Pope Leo XIV thanking him for his earlier statements denouncing military spending and war—the same statements which led to strident criticism by President Donald Trump—according to the Venezuela-based Telesur news agency. Pezeshkian urged the entire international community to oppose Washington’s “illegal” and “dangerous” war against Iran.
