The Iranians are not convinced that Trump won’t restart the bombing of Iran, despite all the “signals” suggesting he’s letting diplomacy proceed . “All social and publicly hidden steps on behalf of our enemy indicate that it intends to unleash another stage of war,” Fars news agency quoted Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as saying, reported TASS. Ghalibaf noted, however, that the Iranian military wasted no time and used the previously announced truce period to get prepared for any possible scenarios.
Separately, Ghalibaf on May 20 referred to the U.S. failure in its unprovoked wars by quoting a line from US Vice President JD Vance’s 2016 autobiographical book, Hillbilly Elegy. “We felt trapped in two unwinnable wars and a disproportionate share of fighters came from our neighborhoods—JDV, Hillbilly Elegy, Ch 11,” he wrote in his post, reported IRNA. Ghalibaf mocked the US by adding a comment, alongside Vance’s quote, that is “Hillbilly 2 incoming. America’s poor & forgotten will foot the bill for the broligarchs, Dimon the demon, and the beltway war merchants.”
“Dimon the demon” is of course JPMorgan Chase CEO Jaime Dimon whom, IRNA notes, is among the warmonger oligarchs close to the White House, and the lobby benefitting from wars in Washington.
