Russia continues its diplomatic offensive with regard to the war in Iran, attempting to prevent the situation from spilling into an all-out catastrophe. On May 8, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov initiated a phone call with U.A.E. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Russian readout said the two spoke about the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, with Lavrov stressing the importance of supporting ongoing negotiation efforts.
