South Korean President Calls Out False Anti-China Propaganda

South Korean President Jae-myung Lee took to X to decry the publication of a fake news report in South Korea asserting that Chinese nationals were buying up apartment buildings in the Gangnam district of Seoul at an alarming rate. “It’s suspected to be a deliberately fabricated fake news article intended to be used as material for anti-China agitation,” he assessed. The report to which he was responding had claimed 944 apartments were purchased this year, while President Lee says that only 5 apartment buildings were purchased by Chinese nationals over that time. Lee asked: “How on earth does stirring up Sinophobia help the country and its people?”

China’s Ambassador to South Korea, Dai Bing, posted his thanks to President Lee.
