Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is facing a tough primary race this coming Tuesday. Not only tough, but reportedly now the most expensive House primary campaign in U.S. history. Massie’s opposition to a number of key planks of President Donald Trump exemplify the growing split between “MAGA” and the President. Trump has endorsed Massie’s opponent for the Republican primary, Ed Gallrein, a farmer and retired US Navy Seal, while pouring in millions to unseat Massie.

Campaign spending in the race is now up to $25.6 million so far, with more expected in the final days. Super PACS alone have poured more than $16 million into the race to unseat Massie. Mega donors like Miriam Adelson and Paul Singer have been among the largest contributors. And AIPAC Tracker has the tally of “Pro-Israel PACs” contributions to Gallrein at $11.8 million. On the other hand, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) are actively campaigning for Massie in Kentucky.
