Dr. Seyed Muhammad Marandi of the Islamic Republic of Iran spoke with Executive Intelligence Review Reports in a wide-ranging interview on June 5. Dr. Marandi, who has become known to the western public through his interviews on the targeting of Iran by the U.S. and Israel, expressed confidence that the resilience of the people will enable his nation to survive, while Israel’s future as a Zionist state is now questionable.
While he placed the major blame for the war on Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu, with his goal of ethnically-cleansing of the Palestinians and his desire to destroy the Islamic Republic, he said one cannot overlook the role of the British, adding that when one mentions the Mossad and the CIA as instigators, one must include MI6, as the British remain an aggressive enforcer of colonial policy. The genocide against Palestinians by the Zionist regime has destroyed its goal of being seen as a legitimate nation, and its inability to achieve any of its military objectives exposes its weakness.
He spoke of the importance of Iran’s long history as a civilization as a key to the resilience of its people in the face of brutal attacks. He pointed positively to the potential of the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization to create a new global order, to replace the hegemony of the present imperial system—Iran is a member of both.
Asked about the Schiller Institute’s proposal of the extended Oasis Plan as an economic policy requiring cooperation to overcome geopolitical confrontation, he said that while it is part of the solution, ending the racism and supremacy of the present system, by an ecumenical alliance of Jews, Christians and Muslims is essential for lasting peace. As Zionism has been discredited by the wars and genocide, the potential is there for a positive contribution from Jews worldwide, freed from the supremacist outlook of the Zionist’s goal of Greater Israel.
