E-4 Ready to Lift Sanctions With Success of US-Iran Deal

The so-called E-4, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy issued a statement in support of the Iran-US peace memorandum and expressed readiness to lift the Iran sanctions once implemented.

The statement “warmly welcomed the announcement of the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran. We congratulate the United States, the Iranian government...”

Noting the “urgent re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz” and their commitment “to playing our part to achieve this —in accordance with our respective constitutional requirements...” they concluded that “Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon. We stand ready to work with the US, Iran and the IAEA to this end. We are prepared to lift relevant sanctions in response to clear, verifiable steps by Iran on its nuclear program.”
