Gasoline prices draw most of the attention, but it is electricity costs that are really beginning to hurt American households and businesses. The Average U.S. electricity price, according to a study by the Labor Department charted on the website of the St. Louis Federal Reserve, rose by 50% in the five years from the end of 2020 to the end of 2025, with a spike in 2022 and then another in 2024-25.
