In a telephone interview with a La7 TV channel yesterday, Trump again uncorked against Meloni, stating that at the G7 meeting, “she begged me for a picture! She wanted a picture with me so badly. I wouldn’t have done it, but I felt sorry for her.”
Meloni replied on Instagram that “Donald Trump’s statements are totally invented” and wondered “why the President of the United States behaves in such a way with his own allies,” while appeasing his enemies. She concluded with a macho posture of her own: “He must remember one thing: Italy and I never beg.”
