Iranian Parliamentarian Calls Trump a ‘Failed U.S. President’ after Strike on Iran

Iranians see Friday night’s U.S. strike on targets in Iran as further proof Donald Trump is not committed to a negotiated end to the U.S.-Iran conflict. “The U.S. attacked Iran in the middle of negotiations once again,” Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian’ parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, wrote on X. “The failed U.S. President has shown he has no commitment to the principles of negotiation or a ceasefire. This reckless violation of the ceasefire will, as always, lead to retreat and regret on their part. The blame game does not work anymore.”

The U.S. attack was in retaliation for an Iranian attack on a ship near the coast of Oman that was using a route through the Strait of Hormuz that had not been coordinated with the Iranian side. But that came after the United States spent days saying that ships transiting the Strait should use the Omani route rather than the routes through Iranian waters.
