Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi explained yesterday that Iran’s retaliatory strikes are aimed only at facilities that neighboring countries allow the U.S. military to use. “Our Armed Forces are conducting self-defense strikes on sites the U.S. is permitted to use to attack civilian shipping and violate the ceasefire,” Araghchi wrote on X. “Any hostile act will be met with an immediate, decisive response. What sanctions and war failed to achieve won’t be won with more war.” Araghchi attached a short video clip of Secretary of State Marco Rubio praising cooperation of Kuwait, the UAE, and other U.S. allies in operations against Iran, in Senate testimony earlier this week. On June 3, Iran fired ballistic missiles and drones at facilities used by the U.S. military, in retaliation for the U.S.’s disabling of a commercial vessel heading towards Iran.
